
Competition Guidelines
The following information is provided only as a general guide to entering.
The Central Coast Skatepark Series competition, aims to recognise, celebrate, and value local young athletes and encourage physical activity.
The Central Coast Youth Strategy 2019-2024 has a focus to sustain the wellbeing of young people, celebrate their talents, strengthen community connection, and create a sense of place.
Young athletes from around the Central Coast are invited to register to compete in the Central Coast Skatepark Series. Each competition will include bowl and/or street disciplines. Each competition will be divided up into six categories 10 and under, 12 and, 16 and under - male, 16 and under - female, Opens - male, Opens - Female.
The three highest ranking athletes for each category will be awarded with items prized to the value of:

1st place - $150 prize pack plus award medallion

2nd place - $100 prize pack plus award medallion

3rd place - $50 prize pack plus award medallion
Both the skateboard and scooter competitions will be held on the same day at same location. In the event of adverse weather conditions, a backup date has been set. If the backup date is cancelled due to adverse weather conditions the competition event will not be further rescheduled. Instead, a less formal community Jam session will be plan for all skate community members to participate in.
All information on how to enter this competition forms part of these terms and conditions. Entry into this competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
This competition is run by Central Coast Council (‘Council’) ABN: 47 054 613 735.
The Council reserves the right at any time to disqualify any individual who the Council reasonably believes has breached any of the terms and conditions or engaged in any unlawful or other improper conduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the competition or the reputation of the Council.
Privacy Notification:
Some of the information that you are asked to provide on this form is personal information, such as your name and contact information. This information is being collected for the purpose of identification; judgement; communication in relation to; and promotion of this entry in the Central Coast Skatepark Series (‘Competition’).
The information will be accessible by Council staff, and other third parties who form part of the judging panel for the competition. It is voluntary to provide personal information on this form, however if the information is not provided, Council will not accept the entry in the competition. Applications to access or amend the personal information provided on the application may be made to Central Coast Council.
Terms and Conditions
1. Eligibility
1.2 - Entry is open to:
a) Participants who fall under one of the six competition age categories (10 & under (male/female), 12 & under (male/female), 16 & under (male), 16 & under (female), Opens (male), Opens (Female) at the time of submitting their entry.
1.3 - Employees of Council and their immediate families are eligible to enter Council competitions where there is independence in the judging (e.g., independent panel members, entries are anonymous etc.) or a random judging process (e.g., barrel draw). Outside of these conditions, Directors must approve the conditions.
1.4 - Competitors under the age of 18 must have the consent of their parent or legal guardian to enter. Consent is given as part of the registration form.
1.5 - Registrations to participate in competitions will be accepted up to the beginning of each age category. After an age category competition begins, no further registrations for that age group will be accepted. All registrations must also complete the associated risk waiver form before being allowed to participate in any Central Coast Skatepark Series activities.
2. How to enter the competition
2.1 - The Central Coast Skatepark Series Competition opens for registration four weeks prior to each competition event (see key dates above).
2.2 - Entry to the competition is free, and entry is required to be completed online with the following steps:

2.3 - Registrations to participate in competitions will be accepted until the beginning of each age category. After an age category competition begins, no further registrations for that age group will be accepted. All registrations must also complete the associated risk waiver form before being allowed to participate in any Central Coast Skatepark Series activities.
2.4 - Council does not accept any responsibility for any late or lost entries, or any other entries not properly received or completed.
2.5 - Council has absolute discretion; and reserves all rights; to verify the validity of all entries to the Competition, and to disqualify any competitor who tampers with the entry process or who submits an entry that is deemed to not be in accordance with these terms and conditions.
2.6 - Council will not be liable for any damages or loss suffered because of entry to the Competition.
2.7 - Each competitor releases, and hereby indemnifies to the full extent permitted by law, Council, its employees, agents and assigns, from all liability which may arise from and/or all claims in connection with their entry, participation, or the prize in the Competition.
2.8 - Council may cancel or vary the competition at any time. Council will not be responsible for any loss or costs incurred by the competitor or businesses in relation to such cancellation or variation.
3. Photographs, video footage and licences:
3.1 - Each competitor must agree or disagree to media consent at the time of registration, allowing Council to take and upload photographs and/or video footage onto selected platforms as part of the Central Coast Skatepark Series; taking photographs and/or video footage of the competitor for the purpose of promoting the Central Coast Skatepark Series.
3.2 - If a competitor does not agree to media consent, competitor will be given a coloured wrist band notifying event photographers not to include person/s in photographs or videos. All media will be vetted to remove person/s who do not give media consent prior to publishing.
3.3 - Each competitor who consents, provides an irrevocable licence, to Council using and publishing, at its discretion, their entry, including the name, and age of the competitor; recorded entry and any photographs and/or video footage of the competitor for the purpose of the Central Coast Skatepark Series, including but not limited to:
a) Uploading of the entry on to the Council website: www.centralcoast.nsw.gov.au/ and Council managed YouTube channels and social media.
b) Promotion of the Central Coast Skatepark Series, and it’s Competitions in the media, both print and online.
c) Display and promotion at any event associated with the Central Coast Skatepark Series, as deemed suitable by Central Coast Council Youth Services.
3.4 - Photographs and/or video footage of consenting competitors can be used by Council for a maximum of two years and after this time will be appropriately archived.
3.5 - Each competitor agrees that Council will not provide any financial compensation, in relation to any use of their entry or any photographs or video footage of the competitor.
3.6 - Each competitor declares that he/she will not seek now or at any future time any financial compensation from Council in relation to any use of this entry or any photographs or video footage of the competitor.
3.7 - Agreeing to consent is conditional in entering the competition and must:
a) be agreed at time of registration.
b) be legally signed by an adult 18 years or older. Competitors under the age of 18 must have the consent of their parent or legal guardian to enter.
5. Judging of the Competition
5.1 - Each competitor will get a minimum of two 45-second runs to obtain their highest score.
5.2 - Scoring will be completed by a minimum of two judges and will use a 0 to 100 points scale. All scores from judges will be collated to decide the competition winners.
5.3 - If two or more winning athletes have the same score, judges will collate their lowest score to determine the split decision.
5.4 - Judges will record each competitor score across the following criteria reflecting World Skate criteria standards.

Difficulty and variety of perfumed tricks
-
Flow or consistency in the performance
-
Quality of execution
-
Use of course/obstacles in a performance
-
Repetition.
5.5 - Consistency (for runs only) While consistency and runs without any bails are a key factor in any high-scoring skateboarding performance, consistency alone will not be enough to win a competition, as the value of difficulty, execution, and use of course are more important in formulating an overall impression score.
The decisions of the judging panel in relation to any aspect of the competition will be final and binding upon every competitor who enters the competition. No correspondence regarding any decision of the judging panel will be entered into.
5.6 - Judging of the competition will be conducted on-site at each competition.
6. Awarding winners
6.1 - The winning athletes will be announced at each competition.
6.2 - The three highest ranking athletes for each age category will be awarded with items prized to the value of:

1st place - $150 plus award medallion

2nd place - $100 plus award medallion

3rd place - $50 plus award medallion
6.3 - Prizes will be awarded to winning athletes at the time of presentation on the day of competition. If an athlete is not present at the time of presentation a Central Coast Council’s Youth Development Officer, will contact winners on how they can claim their prize.
6.4 - Acceptance of any prize in the competition is conditional on the signing of Council’s release form at the time of receiving their prize (Attachment 3).
6.5 - If the winner is aged under 18 years of age, the Parent or Legal Guardian must sign Council’s release form at the time of receiving prize (Attachment 3).
6.6 - If the prize remains unclaimed for three months from the time notice is given, Council will have the right to determine another prize recipient or reuse, if deemed appropriate.
7. Complaints
7.1 - If Council receives a complaint from a person/s featured in an entry, or a complaint about the entry, Council may reject / remove the entry from the competition at its absolute discretion. All complaints must be received in writing with contact details. No correspondence will be entered in relation to any decision of Council in relation to the competition.
